GDSNY worked with Nils Folke Anderson to produce a dynamic art installation in a public plaza in London.
The sculpture, called Pioneer’s Gate, captures the period of exciting growth that is underway in Ilford, London. Pioneer’s Gate is made of nine reciprocally linked rectangular steel frames which nest and intersect each other, creating a vibrant elongated form that spirals upward, inspiring a sense of change and development. Located at a bustling intersection of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, Pioneer’s Gate offers a progression of views reminiscent of stop motion photography as one travels around the work. As Pioneer Point is a gateway to Ilford’s future, this sculpture stands as an opening to the imagination and spirit of those who will see it every day. Selected photos by Joe Hancock
