An acclaimed London restaurant group with multiple Michelin-starred restaurants will be the anchor tenant at a new Manhattan building that houses A24 offices. The film production company behind hits like Lady Bird, Uncut Gems, Moonlight, and shows like Euphoria first signed its multi-floor lease at the address in 2021 and has since moved in.
JKS, behind Michelin-starred restaurants Lyle’s (a tasting menu spot that’s actually worth it), Gymkhana (a stylish Indian restaurant with celebrity sightings), Kitchen Table, a fancy pub, and Trishna (a more low-key but splurge-y Indian restaurant) has signed a lease on a 7,900-square-foot restaurant at the ground and lower levels at 1245 Broadway, at West 31st Street in Nomad. In 2021, Eater London called JKS one of London’s most influential and decorated restaurant teams with a spattering of stars and Michelin Bib Gourmands across its fleet.
A spokesperson for JKS declined to specify which restaurant from its group would be brought over from London to Manhattan.
As the business and finance industry requires its employees to return to the office, that’s bad news for workers enjoying their cushy stay-at-home set-ups, but good news for office-heavy Manhattan, which had the real estate industry in panic throughout the pandemic, with a litany of unfilled spaces, though seeing an uptick now, according to a recent Commercial Observer report.
The London restaurant addition to the neighborhood is one of several luxury tenants in the area, including José Andrés’s Nubeluz, the Wildair team’s Brass restaurant inside the Evelyn Hotel, and Andrew Carmellini’s Cafe Carmellini.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to introduce one of our restaurants at 1245 Broadway,” Jyotin Sethi, CEO and co-founder of JKS said in a release. “The architectural vision and quality of this project aligns with our vision at JKS. We look forward to opening our first restaurant in New York City and becoming part of the buildings’ community.”
